Getting started

Have you ever wondered why it took you so long to start a project when you actually began "it" - like getting more organized at home, doing more exercise, having that difficult conversation?

There are a multitide of reasons why we procrastinate - commitment to the plan, fear of failure, time constraints..for every excuse there is a very good reason to delay. The problem is - the angst about not getting started only gets worse - and we are still in the world of non-action.

If you have one of those projects that you can't seem to tackle, here are a few tips that might help:

Ask a friend to be your 'coach" - there is a saying that friendship is stronger than willpower...having someone to whom you are accountable is invaluable.

Break down the project into bite size pieces.

Set up a reward system so you can see your results.

Forgive yourself if you are not moving as fast as you think you should be...

Congratulate yourself when you can see tangible results of your goal accomplished.
