Asking for what we want

So it has been awhile since I have written in my blog. Life is always giving us opportunities to learn and to grow. I believe one of the secrets to life long learning about self is to "be aware". Being mindful isn't just about sitting quietly when we meditate - although certainly that is one of the ways we train our mind to observe and to be aware. It is watching our day to day actions, and decisions - especially those where we find ourselves out of sync with our "higher self". A few weeks ago I was driving a rental car because mine was in for repairs. The car they gave me was small - I didn't feel safe driving it and yet I didnt want to complain. I thought I should be grateful - after all , I did have a car and my insurance was covering the cost. After a few weeks, I decided to tell the manager that I didn't feel good in this car and without hesitation, they upgraded me. Lesson - ask for what you want, listen to the voice that says .."hmm, this doesn't feel right and speak up". I believe when we speak our truth, not from ego but from a place of kindness and honesty, we have honoured our selves and have a better chance of getting what we know feels right.
